Why Environment ?

NGO for Environmental Conservation

Environmental conservation is critical for India’s sustainability. The country loses around 5.3% of its GDP annually due to environmental degradation. India ranks third globally in carbon emissions, contributing around 7% of the world’s total. Climate change impacts are severe, with increasing heatwaves affecting over 23 million people and causing annual economic losses of approximately $37 billion.

Deforestation has led to the loss of 1.6 million hectares of forest between 2001 and 2020, impacting biodiversity. Soil erosion affects 30% of agricultural land, threatening food security. Protecting the environment ensures health, economic stability, and a sustainable future for all Indians.

Bharatiya Jana Seva Mission, a renowned Indian environmental conservation NGO based in West Bengal, leads climate change action with expertise in agroforestry, water body conservation, watershed development, and soil conservation. Our mission is to mitigate environmental degradation and promote sustainable practices for a healthier planet.

What We Do

Our holistic approach to environmental conservation and climate change action ensures a balanced and thriving ecosystem, contributing to a sustainable future for all.

Agroforestry
We promote the integration of trees and agriculture to improve biodiversity, enhance soil fertility, and provide sustainable livelihoods for farmers.
Water Body Conservation
Our efforts focus on restoring and maintaining water bodies to ensure clean and accessible water resources for communities, combatting water scarcity, and preserving aquatic ecosystems.
Watershed Development
We implement watershed management practices to prevent soil erosion, enhance groundwater recharge, and support sustainable agriculture, benefiting both the environment and local communities.
Soil Conservation
By employing sustainable farming techniques and soil management practices, we aim to prevent soil degradation, improve crop productivity, and maintain the health of our agricultural lands.
