Monthly Agroforestry Program: Plantation Drive Update :
The Bharatiya Jana Seva Mission conducted its monthly Agroforestry Plantation Drive, a week-long initiative aimed at addressing critical challenges such as climate change, regenerative agriculture, and food security. This collaborative effort with farmers led to the successful plantation of 100+ trees in 7 days ( 2nd December to 9th December , 2024) , marking a step forward in promoting sustainable agricultural practices and environmental stewardship
Program Highlights:
Ensuring Food Security:
By combining tree crops with traditional agriculture, farmers can diversify their income sources and ensure a more stable food supply. Trees planted during this drive include species that provide fruits, fodder, and other resources beneficial for both farmers and the ecosystem.
Climate Change Mitigation:
Trees play a vital role in absorbing carbon dioxide, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and combating the adverse effects of climate change. Our plantation drive focuses on creating green belts that contribute to carbon sequestration and cooling microclimates.
Regenerative Agriculture:
Agroforestry integrates tree plantation into agricultural landscapes, enhancing soil fertility, preventing erosion, and improving water retention. This program promotes sustainable farming practices that regenerate natural resources while increasing productivity.
Community Engagement:
The program saw enthusiastic participation from local farmers and community members who contributed to planting and nurturing these trees. Their active involvement ensures long-term care and the success of this initiative.
Looking Ahead:
The monthly Plantation Drive is an integral part of our year-round commitment to planting 1 lakh trees by 2025. Through sustained efforts, we aim to empower farmers, protect the environment, and promote resilience against climate vulnerabilities.
Together, we can build a greener, healthier planet. Stay connected for updates on our upcoming drives and initiatives!
