Tree Plantation Drive for Riverside Communities in West Bengal

Tree Plantation Drive for Riverside Communities in West Bengal

As part of our continued mission to safeguard the environment and support marginalized communities, Bharatiya Jana Seva Mission ,an renowned environmental NGOs in India , successfully conducted a Tree Plantation Drive on 11th June 2025 in riverside settlement areas of West Bengal. This initiative focused on planting Mango Trees in regions inhabited by underprivileged families facing the dual challenge of environmental degradation and economic instability.

The primary objective of this program was to address multiple grassroots issues with one integrated approach:

  • Environmental Protection: Tree plantation helps in reducing soil erosion along riverbanks, mitigating the risks of flooding and habitat loss.
  • Climate Resilience: Trees play a critical role in absorbing carbon dioxide, improving air quality, and promoting biodiversity.
  • Livelihood Support: By planting fruit-bearing mango trees, we aim to create a future income source for local communities, especially those dependent on seasonal labor or agriculture.

This program engaged local volunteers, youth groups, and community members, reinforcing the idea of collective responsibility and action. Technical support and saplings were provided with the help of our field team and local environmental bodies.

Bharatiya Jana Seva Mission remains committed to sustainable development goals (SDGs), especially climate action, life on land, and poverty alleviation. We invite individuals, institutions, CSR partners, and stakeholders to join us in expanding this mission across India.

Let’s plant not just trees—but hope, sustainability, and a better tomorrow.
