Women Empowerment
- Project Status: Ongoing
Why Empowering Women through Animal husbandry ?
Animal husbandry, particularly goatery, plays a crucial role in enhancing women’s livelihoods in India. Approximately 70% of rural households in India engage in livestock rearing, with women contributing significantly. In regions like West Bengal, goat farming provides a viable income source, requiring low investment and offering quick returns. Studies show that women involved in goatery can increase their household income by up to 30%, thereby improving their financial stability and social status.
Bharatiya Jana Seva Mission stands out as the India’s premier NGO working on Women Empowerment in Kolkata and aspirational districts of West Bengal, India through sustainable livelihoods. Recognizing the potential of animal husbandry, particularly goatery, we have successfully transformed the lives of countless women, providing them with the means to achieve financial independence and social standing. Our holistic approach not only enhances their economic status but also fosters a sense of community and resilience.
