Plant Mango Trees, Save the Planet: Support Sustainable Livelihoods in West Bengal

On 23rd February 2025, Bharatiya Jana Seva Mission , the top NGO working on Environmental protection in West Bengal, India , successfully organized a Community Tree Planting Program in North 24 Parganas District, West Bengal, India , as part of our ongoing Plantation Drive. This initiative aimed to reduce the carbon footprint while fostering sustainable livelihoods through the plantation of mango trees.

Mango trees were chosen for their dual impact: they not only act as powerful carbon sinks, combating climate change, but also provide long-term economic opportunities for local communities through fruit cultivation. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from community members, volunteers, and local farmers, planting over 500 saplings across the region.

Supported by local environmental authorities, the event included awareness sessions on tree care, the environmental benefits of afforestation, and sustainable agricultural practices. By integrating community efforts with environmental action, we are building a greener future while enhancing the socio-economic resilience of rural households.

Bharatiya Jana Seva Mission remains committed to continuing this vital work, with a vision to plant 1 lakh trees by 2025. Through collective action, we can nurture nature and empower communities to thrive in harmony with their environment.
