Community Tree Plantation Drive in West Bengal, India

On 9th January 2025, the Bharatiya Jana Seva Mission organized a Community Tree Plantation Drive as part of our ongoing Climate Change Action and Livelihood Development Initiatives. The event saw active participation from women belonging to disadvantaged communities, symbolizing their pivotal role in environmental conservation and sustainable development.

As part of the initiative, fruit-bearing mango trees were planted along the canal-side area of the Ichamati River, an ecologically significant zone near the Sundarbans. This effort aligns with our mission to create green corridors that not only combat climate change but also generate sustainable livelihoods.

The plantation drive aimed to achieve:

  • Environmental Benefits: Enhancing the green cover in the region, reducing soil erosion, and contributing to carbon sequestration.
  • Livelihood Opportunities: Offering long-term economic benefits to participating women through the future sale of fruits, contributing to their financial independence.

This initiative reflects our commitment to empowering marginalized communities while addressing pressing environmental challenges. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants, volunteers, and supporters for making this event a success.

Let’s continue working together for a greener, more sustainable future!
