Restoring Nature and Livelihoods: Tree Plantation Drive in Flood-Prone Areas of West Bengal
Protecting Lives & Livelihoods Through Green Action
On 18th August 2025, the Bharatiya Jana Seva Mission successfully organized a large-scale Tree Plantation Drive in the river-adjacent regions of West Bengal as part of its ongoing Regular Tree Plantation Program.
Held under the banner “Planting Trees to Protect Lives & Livelihoods,” this initiative aimed to promote environmental sustainability, prevent soil erosion along vulnerable riverbanks, and support the long-term livelihoods of local communities.
Key Objectives:
- Prevent riverbank erosion through green barriers
- Improve local air quality and environmental balance
- Encourage sustainable, community-based livelihoods through fruit-bearing trees
- Contribute to climate action and a greener future
More than just planting saplings, this program fostered community participation, environmental awareness, and a shared commitment to a sustainable future.
A Note of Gratitude:
We extend heartfelt thanks to our dedicated volunteers, community members, and supporters for their unwavering commitment. Together, we are not just planting trees — we are planting change.
